Racism is a Bad Look for Anyone (Especially If You’re the Star of a Top TV Network Sitcom)

I’ll keep this short.

Roseanne Barr. What hasn’t been said about her? How about this? She’s thoughtful, well-grounded, humble, and socially aware. Or perhaps, she has an unparalleled sense of nuance in areas of race, equality, and social justice. No? What about this then? She’s a pioneer at finding new frontiers that unite all Americans.

I doubt very few, if anyone, will utter snippets from the above italicized sentences and Barr’s name in the same breath with any degree of seriousness. But then again, ABC gave her another shot, so anything’s possible.

It’s never good to delight in the misfortunes of others. That’s not what I’m doing here. My heart goes out for the show’s cast and crew who are now without work. Everybody’s got to eat. It’s always sad when someone tries to elevate themselves by denigrating others. But hey, this is the world we live in. Thankfully, the Universe is continuing its trajectory towards justice.

While I’m not shocked, saddened, or dismayed that it was Barr’s mouth that landed her in this situation. I will admit that I’m quite surprised that it took this long.

Très désolé. (Pas désolé.)

Love one another.
